Not a threat

I support the proposed Shawnee Casino. I was an employee at a casino in
California. While employed at that casino, another casino opened 22 miles up
the road. This new casino was partnered with Las Vegas developers and was
thought to be a real threat since it would have newer machines and serve
alcohol. When the casino opened, there was a great improvement in the
employee benefits, for those of us who stayed. The new casino offered new
things so our casino was forced to upgrade services in order to remain
competitive.
The new casino can add jobs and improve work conditions for those
experienced employees working at the old casinos. Additionally, both casinos
contributed to the community through community service projects. Currently,
they are both in business and prosperous. If other casinos would like to
remain competitive they will be forced to upgrade their community and
employee benefits; everyone benefits.
